Broom Hill

Broom Hill was a mixed-use development, including 61 residential units, hotel /restaurant, and public open space.

The site was allocated for development and identified as suitable for employment use and associated uses including public open space, public recreation/leisure use, structural landscaping, and vehicular access. Despite opposition from the Council, we developed our scheme for 61 houses and a hotel on site.

The site had a significant slope up to the east and so housing was located on the western edge close to existing development. Large amounts of open space and play space were provided on-site with significant structural planting to help maintain and protect the countryside edge and surrounding residential development.

This scheme, along with similar smaller versions on the same site, was won at appeal in what was a landmark case for testing the Council’s policy.
